FAYETTEVILLE NOW is holding a Women’s Equality Day celebration on Sunday, August 26, 2018, 3pm, at the North Regional Library, located at 855 McArthur Road in Fayetteville.
It was on August 26, 1920 when the United States adopted the 19th amendment to the US Constitution, which prohibited states and our Federal government from denying the right to vote to its citizens based on their sex (affording women the right to vote).
Fayetteville NOW is excited to announce our program celebration will feature NC House Representative Deb Butler, NC House District 18 (Brunswick and New Hanover Counties).
Representative Butler is one of the co-sponsors of House Bill 1072 (Equal Rights Amendment), introduced during the 2017-2018 session of the General Assembly (June 1, 2018). Representative Butler is a dynamic advocate for the ERA. We are pleased that she can be with us to talk about her efforts and those of her colleagues to ensure the passing of the ERA. What an historic opportunity it would be for our state to be the final state to ratify the ERA.
Please share this event notice with women and men alike that understand the importance of writing women into our US Constitution!!!
This event is free and open to the public.
