Upcoming events – Winter 2019

Here are some upcoming events to plan for.
1. Anita Hill will be at Elon University on Jan 10, 2019! 
The topic is “From Social Movement to Social Impact: Putting an End to Sexual Harassment in the Workplace.”
A group from Triad NOW is going, and some Raleigh NOW members as well. Public tickets for the event are sold out.
2. Women’s March events around NC – see 2019 Women’s Marches in NC.  
3. Look for Martin Luther King Events around state.

Raleigh NOW joins the annual MLK march in Raleigh on Monday, Jan 21, 2019, same schedule as usual. Meet on Edenton Street side of Capitol grounds as marchers gather on Edenton Street. Gather at 10:40am. Step-off is at 11am. We’ll go to lunch afterward.

Triad NOW is going to the MLK Breakfast, Jan 21, Benton Convention Center. Free tickets…call the WSChronicle to reserve yours now. March to follow. Leadership team is going…join them as they stand for MLK’s vision and the rights of our African American sisters and their families.

4. Tarana Burke (Founder of #MeToo): 2019 MLK Keynote Address at Duke on Jan 20, 2019!  Facebook event is at https://www.facebook.com/events/272349503637839/.

5. Historic Thousands on Jones St (HKonJ) event in Raleigh on Saturday, Feb 9. Join NC NOW and many NOW chapters for the march and rally.
6. March 5, 2019 – ERA event – details coming. Expecting two equal rights bills (one in NC house and one in NC Senate to ratify era in NC) to be filed. Event to mark it that day.
7. March 9, 2019 – noon on Saturday. Triad NOW is hosting their first annual International Women’s Day Luncheon featuring: 3 international caterers, an awesome raffle, and a keynote speaker who will thrill you with her amazing story! 
Where: Parkway United Church of Christ, 1465 Irving St., Winston-Salem
Who: NC Our Keynote Speaker is Purity Ruchugo, from Kenya. Ms. Ruchugo arrived in the United States with just $5.

8. March 12, 2019 – Fayetteville NOW is hosting their TWENTIETH! annual Susan B. Anthony event in Fayetteville, honoring Fayetteville Police Chief Gina Hawkins. More information soon.
