Find a Stop Abortion Bans Protest Near You! 5/21/19

Women are setting up rallies or protests around North Carolina and around the country for Tuesday, May 21, 2019 and Wednesday, May 22. Currently have 9 such rallies in 8 cities in NC (two in Greensboro). Asheville is doing their own on May 22.

A person can find the closest one to them at http://www.stopabortionbans.org/. This site has been running behind (probably due to so many protests being added!) If there isn’t an event near you yet, you can make your own and register it! Like the women’s marches.

We’re tracking the ones around NC here.

Background from the #StopTheBans website.

“Across the country, we are seeing a new wave of extreme bans on abortion, stripping away reproductive freedom and representing an all-out assault on abortion access. This is Trump’s anti-choice movement… and it’s terrifying, particularly for women of color and low-income women who are most affected by these bans.”

“We will show up to speak out and fight back against this unconstitutional attempt to gut Roe and punish women. Politicians shouldn’t be making decisions best left to women, their families, and their doctors.”

“Together we say: Stop the bans.”

  2. I love this. I wish we could plan together for a further out date. This is so fast. Is there another date coming up?

    • I know this is quick turn around and not everyone can make it. Some are at noon, Raleigh’s is at 6:30pm in case that helps. There may be another set of these. Not sure yet.

Can’t march. Jury Duty. Is there a color I can wear in support??

    • There isn’t a single color around keeping the right to safe and legal abortion. I use purple for NOW, green and white for Equal Rights Amendment, white for suffrage. I’m sure people will be buying or making t-shirts like the one Leslie Jones wore – MINE! with an arrow pointing down ❤

You may want to wear some buttons – the classics all apply, unfortunately. This is what a feminist looks like! wire hanger with a circle and slash over it (I picked up some of those from the NOW office today to bring tomorrow), My Body Is Mine!, My body my choice, never again (with hanger), resist, persist, women's march buttons .. so many good ones. I still have some Raleigh Women's March buttons.
