NC NOW commemorated the 48th anniversary of Roe v. Wade in 2021 with a pro-choice signature ad that features an original portrait of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who had graced the Supreme Court for 27 years. The Notorious RBG, as she was affectionately known, passed away last fall, on September 18, 2020. Roe v. Wade is the Supreme Court of the United States (#SCOTUS) decision which made abortion legal in the United States.
This beautiful portrait was made by artist Kathy Kos, a friend of our Chapel Hill NOW president Gerrie Richards. The signature ad ran as the centerfold in Indy Week. It was published on January 27, 2021, and is available for free at coffee shops and health food stores and other places around the Triangle for a week.
NC NOW members will deliver copies of the ad with a letter from NC NOW on priorities for women to our NC Legislators in the next few months. If you want to help prepare signature ad packets or help deliver the ads, you can volunteer here online.
More on the artist and 2021 Roe events coming soon.
