Save Roe Women’s Events in Raleigh and Durham – Oct 2, 2021

There are now two Save Roe v. Wade Women’s events in Raleigh on Saturday, October 2, and at least one in Durham. (Two of the three events in Raleigh merged.) These are in conjunction with protests around NC and the country! We know of rallies in Raleigh, Weaverville, Wilmington, Charlotte, Greensboro, Sanford, Fayetteville and more! Find one near you! Here are links to two events in Raleigh, and one in Durham.

Two of the protests in Raleigh merged to become the Raleigh Rally for Abortion Justice. More people means the event had to move, and it’s now at 11am at the Bicentennial Plaza, 1 E Edenton St, Raleigh, NC 27601. Bicentennial Plaza spans the block from Edenton to Jones St, and is across from the Legislative Building on Jones St. This event includes a march and speakers. Facebook event for the Raleigh March is at https://www.facebook.com/events/410465570411673. Raleigh NOW, Raleigh Women’s March organizers, Planned Parenthood, Naral Pro-choice NC, Carolina Abortion Fund, and others are helping with this one, which was started by a few individuals who had to do something!

See the new Raleigh Women’s March facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Raleigh-Womens-March-110380958054103.

The second Raleigh event is called “ON THE LINE FOR WOMANKIND.”

It is a protest with signs down Highway 401, starting at Wake Tech North. Starts at 10am. I love the simplicity of this. In my dreams, it could go from Wake Tech North at 401 and I540 down to Wake Tech on the other side of Raleigh! More on this at https://act.womensmarch.com/event/oct-2-2021-march/1491.

Durham has one signed up with the national Women’s March. Find WOMEN’S MARCH 2021 DURHAM NC at https://act.womensmarch.com/event/oct-2-2021-march/1599/. It’s at 2pm at City Square (where the big bull is on Corcoran St.). Their event says “we will be meeting in peaceful protest two days before the Supreme Court’s gathering on October 4th. They will be meeting about Texas’s 6 week abortion limits. This has already happened in South Carolina, and will continue to happen if we don’t come together to fight it.”

Some cities have already held protests, including Raleigh and Asheville. Watch the protest in Asheville NC that was held on Sept 6, 2021 at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo6zbiXIGyk.
