Turnout was great at the events surrounding the lame duck special session called by the NC Legislature months ago in anticipation of being able to implement some or all of the constitutional amendments they created. Many organizations worked together to expose what they are doing and get people out to contact them and bear witness. Here are pictures of the day’s events.
Known plans for lame duck legislative session which begins on 11/27/18, in Raleigh. Events are in and around the Legislative Building at 16 W. Jones St, as specified.
Come protest the NCGA as they force members in on a Saturday to override Governor Cooper’s vetos of bad bills they passed at a hastily called special session on 7/24/18, called with less than 24 hours notice. Protest North Carolinians being tricked into giving the NC General Assembly a “blank check” to do whatever it wants to our state. Fine if you can only come out for a half hour (outside) or an hour.
Come greet the NCGA on Saturday morning, 8/4/18, as they return to Session to try to override the Governor’s vetoes of their hastily enacted legislation intended to deceive North Carolinians into voting away their rights.

The NC House finished its budget so now is time for budget negotiations between House and Senate. Update on SCOTUS ruling on NC’s gerrymandering case and another case.
Some bills died because they had not passed one house before the crossover date on April 27. Those are listed with our bill tracking. Power grabbing by the NC General Assembly has continued throughout the 2017 legislative session. The NCGA overrode 2 bills that Governor Cooper had vetoed and he took them to court over those too.
Another busy week as another House Bill brings derision to NC, a House Representative gets national attention for a very inappropriate comment, and the Republicans are abusing their power in new and worse ways.
