Thank you Charlotte City Council for voting for quiet zones around churches, schools and medical facilities! It is long overdue!

Women are setting up rallies or protests around North Carolina and around the country for Tuesday, May 21, 2019 and Wednesday, May 22. Currently have 9 such rallies in 8 cities in NC (two in Greensboro). Asheville is doing their own on May 22.
A person can find the closest one to them at http://www.stopabortionbans.org/. This site has been running behind (probably due to so many protests being added!) If there isn’t an event near you yet, you can make your own and register it! Like the women’s marches.
We’re tracking the ones around NC here.

NC NOW’s 2019 signature ad was published on 1/23/19, celebrating the 46th anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that gave women some control over their own bodies. Get yours at coffee shops and other businesses that carry the Indy Week periodical. Our ad is in the centerfold.
We will make signature ad packets and deliver them to all representatives in the NC House and Senate in March, 2019. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to help deliver them.
With the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, there is more danger than ever before that Roe v. Wade could be overturned or its application severely restricted. If federal protection for abortion rights is denied or diminished, the battle to defend women’s reproductive rights will shift to the states. Here in North Carolina, the forces for abortion rights have been historically strong, but in this political climate our voices must grow stronger and our support for a woman’s right to choose must become more visible. The pro-choice signature ad is one way to make your support for choice visible.
Show your support for access to safe and legal abortion NOW by joining in on the Pro-Choice Signature Ad (2019) and/or making a donation! NC NOW runs a pro-choice signature ad in the Indy Weekly (previously known as The Independent Weekly) every year. The ad runs in January, timed with the January 22 anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision (1/22/73) that gave women control over their bodies and lives. 2019 marks the 46th anniversary of Roe! The signature ad commemorates Roe v. Wade, and also raises money for NOW’s work in North Carolina.
Make your statement (I’m Pro-Choice Too!) by including your name in the ad and/or by making a donation to NC NOW.

Please join us for a screening and panel discussion of Dawn Porter’s documentary Trapped on Thursday, July 26, 2018, in Raleigh. Trapped documents the dangerous effects TRAP laws (Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers) have on people seeking an abortion and the medically unnecessary restrictions they place on abortion providers.
This screening is to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s “Whole Woman’s Health v Hellerstedt” decision, which successfully challenged Texas’ TRAP laws.
NC NOW members delivered the pro-choice signature ad packets to all of our representatives in the NC House and NC Senate on Monday, 6/4/18. The packets included a copy of the pro-choice signature ad that we ran in Indy Week in January (as we do every year), and a letter from NC NOW.

This year the letter was somewhat focused on the terrible budget process which blocked input from all Democratic lawmakers and maybe some Republican ones as well. The letter also talked about inappropriate uses of taxpayer money in the budget. See the letter below.
